How to measure for your seating
Good measurements are the foundation of beautifully fitted seating. Use this guide to record your room, chosen layout and access route before sending us your details.
You do not need to produce a technical drawing—we will review and confirm the final dimensions with you before manufacture.

Before you begin
A clear picture of your space
You will need a tape measure, a pencil, paper and a phone or camera. Measure in millimetres and avoid estimating.

Sketch the room
Draw a simple plan showing the walls, corners, doors, windows and the intended seating position. It does not need to be to scale.

Measure the available footprint
Record the maximum usable width along every relevant wall and the available depth into the room.

Record heights and obstacles
Measure floor-to-sill heights and note radiators, sockets, pipework, skirting boards and any wall features.

Check the full access route
Measure doors, hallways, stairs, landings and tight turns from the property entrance to the finished position.

Photograph and send
Take wide photographs from several angles, then include your sketch, measurements and preferred layout with your enquiry.
Choose your layout
What to measure
Measure the room rather than an existing piece of furniture. Give us the maximum space available and tell us about any clearances you want to retain.
Straight seating
Measure the usable wall width (A), available depth into the room (B), and any required finished height or window-sill clearance.
Corner seating
Measure both wall runs from the inside corner (A and B). Check the corner is reasonably square and note obstacles on either wall.
U-shaped seating
Measure the rear wall and both return lengths. Record the clear space between the returns and the intended table position.
Do not overlook
Details that affect the fit
Skirting boards
Measure their height and projection from the wall. Tell us if they must remain untouched.
Radiators and pipework
Record the full width, height and projection, including valves and visible pipes.
Doors and drawers
Allow for doors, cupboards and appliances to open fully without striking the seating.
Windows and sills
Measure from the floor to the underside of the sill and note handles, curtains and blinds.
Sockets and controls
Mark electrical sockets, switches, thermostats and controls that need to remain accessible.
Floor and wall condition
Tell us about uneven floors, sloping walls, alcoves or walls that are noticeably out of square.

Measuring questions
Do my measurements need to be exact?
Please measure as accurately as you can in millimetres. Your first measurements help us understand the space; final production dimensions will be reviewed and confirmed before manufacture.
What photographs should I take?
Send wide photographs of the full seating area from several angles, plus close-ups of corners, skirting, radiators, sockets, pipework and other obstacles.
What if my walls are not square?
Make a note on your sketch and provide measurements at more than one point where possible. Photographs are especially helpful for alcoves, uneven walls and unusual corners.
Should I measure the delivery route too?
Yes. Record the narrowest doorways, halls, stairs, landings and turns between the property entrance and the intended room.
Can you help if I am unsure?
Yes. Send us your sketch, photographs and the measurements you have. We can identify any missing information and discuss the next steps with you.
